Gaslight Library was created by a lifelong lover of classic books and historical literature who believed these timeless works should be easy to discover—not buried across countless archive websites. The goal was simple: build one organized library where families could spend less time searching and more time reading.
The idea came from a frustrating reality shared by many homeschool parents. Finding quality public domain books often meant searching dozens of different websites, dealing with broken links, incomplete scans, and countless editions of the same title. We wanted to create the library we wished already existed, one place where the best books were already collected, organized, and ready to read.
Every collection was carefully assembled over hundreds of hours. Thousands of books were gathered from public domain sources, organized into more than 161 subject collections, checked for quality, and arranged to make browsing simple and enjoyable. The result is a library of over 14,000 books designed to help families find what they need in seconds.
The biggest challenge wasn’t finding books, it was organizing them. Public domain literature is scattered across countless archives with inconsistent formatting and little organization. We spent months sorting, categorizing, and refining the library so homeschool families could enjoy a clean, searchable collection instead of wasting valuable time hunting for books.
